Liquor & Gaming NSW will be conducting inspections of licensed premises in regional areas and the Sydney CBD over the Anzac Day weekend to ensure compliance with the State's liquor and gaming laws.
Venue alcohol promotions will also be monitored in the lead up to Anzac day including on social media.
Licensed venues are reminded to plan ahead and have proper measures in place to ensure smooth Anzac Day celebrations on 25 April.
Pubs and clubs can face additional challenges on Anzac Day associated with managing the larger than normal crowds, alcohol consumption and also the playing of two-up.
Proper planning and implementation are key to managing your venue responsibly on Anzac Day.
In particular, venues need to ensure they have enough staff rostered on to deal with the extra patron numbers and to address the specific business needs of the day.
It is also critical that licensees monitor patron alcohol consumption and behaviour on Anzac Day to avoid intoxication and any anti-social behaviour.
Planning should include a review of your alcohol management plan, incident register from last year's Anzac Day, and advertising and promotions strategy and material.
Planning should involve venue managers and frontline staff, and give particular consideration to the escalated risk associated with larger crowds, increased rates of intoxication, gambling disputes, extended high volume trade, and special Anzac Day liquor promotions.
