Our regulatory priorities

We take an intelligence led and risk based approach to setting regulatory priorities each year. Our regulatory priorities are operationally focused and identify where we target our compliance and enforcement activities.

Regulatory priorities are set in the context of NSW Government priorities and our Strategic Plan (PDF 2.0 MB), and in consultation with industry, community and government stakeholders. They are informed by an assessment of existing or emerging issues and are based on data, intelligence and research.

Some forms of conduct are so fundamental to meeting community expectations and ensuring safe and responsible liquor and gaming industries that we maintain a constant regulatory focus. These include:

  • Conduct that leads to, or is likely to contribute to, significant alcohol or gambling-related harm
  • Unlicensed sale of alcohol
  • Sale or supply of alcohol to minors
  • Criminal influence within the casino sector.
