ILGA issues guideline on the sale of packaged liquor in a supermarket

On 14 December 2018, the Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) issued a Guideline 10 on the sale of packaged liquor in a supermarket under section 30 of the Liquor Act 2007 ("the Act").

The guideline applies to supermarkets that have a retail floor area of more than 240 square metres. It has been developed in response to the changing business model and store design of supermarkets in recent years.

Other types of businesses which may be subject to the requirements under section 30 of the Act are not specifically covered by the Guideline.

The guideline applies to applications under the Act that have not been determined by ILGA as at, or are received after, 14 December 2018.
