Later trading for small bars and takeaway alcohol businesses

Key aspects of the NSW Government's reforms to liquor laws will begin this Friday 16 December with the introduction of later trading times for small bars and takeaway alcohol businesses.

From Friday, most takeaway alcohol sales will be permitted until 11pm Monday to Saturday and the patron limit for small bars will rise from 60 to 100.

Small bars in the Sydney CBD and Kings Cross will be able to trade until 2am subject to development consent conditions. These changes will improve the commercial viability of small bars and contribute to more diverse night-time entertainment options in time for the festive summer season.

Plans are also underway to relax lockout laws for live entertainment venues in the Sydney CBD and Kings Cross. Interested venues can apply from next week, with exemptions expected to be considered and granted from 16 January 2017.
