Liquor & Gaming Strategic Plan 2017-2019

The Liquor & Gaming NSW Strategic Plan 2017-2019 (PDF, 2MB) articulates our goals, direction, approach and what we think success looks like.

Substantial thought and consultation has been invested in developing the plan. Following valuable contributions and consultation with Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) staff and stakeholders, L&GNSW now has a plan for the next two years that clearly identifies our purpose, goals and vision for the future.

The Strategic Plan supports the NSW Department of Industry Corporate Plan 2015-2019 and aligns with the Premier's and Government Priorities. It is a critical approach to guide our work and it demonstrates our commitment to achieving policy and regulatory leadership, and delivering outcomes and enhancing our customer experience for our large and very diverse range of stakeholders.

L&GNSW operates in a complex and challenging environment, balancing the responsibility of preventing and minimising the risk of alcohol and gambling-related harm to the community, while ensuring the regulatory framework facilitates a diverse, vibrant and responsible industry.

It is with this in mind that we set our five priority goals:

  1. We put the customer first and deliver efficient licensing services that are risk-based and commercially aware.
  2. We ensure intelligence-led and risk-based industry oversight that minimises burden without compromising regulatory objectives.
  3. We provide policy leadership that balances responsible industry development with harm minimisation.
  4. We maximise transparency and stakeholder participation in liquor and gaming regulation and encourage compliant and responsible industry.
  5. We develop staff that are capable, collaborative and empowered to deliver.

Engagement with stakeholders from various sectors, including industry, community and government, assisted in guiding our strategic approach and the development of our goals and strategies.

We thank all internal and external stakeholders who had a role in shaping this crucial piece of work for the organisation.
