ID scanners are machines that electronically read and store identification cards, such as a driver licence or proof of age card.
If you work in the Kings Cross precinct and wish to operate an ID scanner, you need to obtain a privacy endorsement. This endorsement will be added to your NSW competency card on successful completion of the training. You can only obtain a privacy endorsement by completing the online privacy training course.
Staff working in venues outside of Kings Cross may also undertake the online privacy training course.
Licensees and staff must comply with the Privacy Act 1988 to protect the personal information recorded by an ID scanner operating in the venue.

You’ll need to hold an RSA photo competency card before you’re eligible to undertake the privacy training.

Once you pass the course an interim certificate will be emailed to you and is valid for 28 days.
Go to the online portal to add your privacy endorsement to your competency card. A new competency card will be posted to you.
There is a fee to add the Privacy training endorsement on your photo competency card and receive a new card.
If your interim certificate expires and you do not have your photo competency card or a digital card, you will not be able to work with ID scanners.
It can take up to four weeks for your photo competency card to arrive in the post so it is recommended that you take action to get your photo card and digital card as soon as possible.
