Gaming reform

The NSW Government committed to a comprehensive range of gambling reforms, to reduce gambling harm and stop money laundering and criminal activity associated with gaming machines in NSW. New requirements commenced on 1 July 2024.

Responsible Gambling Officer

Guidance has been published on the L&GNSW website to help venues understand their RGO responsibilities.

L&GNSW has also published a series of FAQs answering common questions about RGOs.

Gambling incident registers

Gaming Plan of Management

All venues must have a completed GPOM.

Venues are no longer required to have GPOMs approved by ILGA or L&GNSW.

Internal gaming machine and cash dispensing facility signage and cash dispensing location changes

New guidance has been published regarding upcoming changes to:

  • internal signage for gaming machines,
  • internal signage for cash dispensing facilities, and
  • the location of cash dispensing facilities in venues.

Liquor reform

Vibrancy Reform Act 2023

A range of changes to the NSW liquor laws to support a thriving and vibrant night-time economy and the associated music and cultural sector were introduced into NSW Parliament in November 2023. These changes will come into force in a staged approach commencing from mid-December 2023 and throughout 2024. Find out what’s changing here:
