Community gaming activities

People and organisations often conduct community gaming activities such as lotteries, and games of chance (raffles, bingo etc.) and rely on the funding to carry out their work.

Fair Trading NSW has introduced the Community Gaming Bill 2018 which is designed to more clearly outline the requirements when running games of chance. The legislation also ensures that all community games and trade promotions are run fairly, and funds or prizes are distributed as promised.

Fair Trading NSW investigates possible misconduct, or mismanagement, and issues penalty notices when the law is broken. Serious breaches are taken before the courts.
