This guideline concerns the process by which ILGA considers the likely social impact of a licence, authorisation or approval on community well-being when determining whether to grant certain applications. It provides information to relevant stakeholders (including applicants for a licence, authorisation or approval and members of the community) about the type of information that is likely to be of assistance to ILGA when considering that impact.
Authority Interim Guideline 6.1 – Density controls in the Sydney CBD Entertainment and Kings Cross Precincts (PDF 1.5 MB)
This interim Guideline covers the process ILGA uses to consider risks relating to the density of licensed premises in the precincts, and likely social impacts of authorisations or approvals on community well-being. This Guideline is for applications for new extended trading hours, proposed increases to licensed boundaries, and certain licence removals for hotels (except tourist accommodation establishments), registered clubs, nightclubs, adult entertainment venues and packaged liquor outlets. It shows four Cumulative Impact Areas where there are higher risks, based on the density of licensed premises and evidence of alcohol-related harm. It provides applicants with guidance on the ILGA’s approach to managing harms in these Areas in the application process. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the Guideline before applying if their premises is located in the precincts.
