NSW Live music and performance venue application

What this form is for?

This form is used for eligible venues to apply to be included on the list of venues able to access the live music and performance incentives. Venues on the list may access a range of incentives intended to encourage and facilitate the holding of live music and performances.

Eligibility licence types

A live music venue must be one of the following licences:

  • a hotel licence
  • a club licence
  • a small bar licence
  • an on-premises licence
  • a producer/wholesaler licence

A live performance venue must be a music hall, concert hall, dance hall, theatre or other venue that is licensed under an on-premises licence relating to a public entertainment venue.

A participating venue in a Special Entertainment Precinct may be any licensed premises within the Precinct.

Key dates

Venues must apply by 31 January of each year to reduce that year's annual liquor licence fee.

Part 2- Incentive scheme

Venues can apply to be a live music venue, a live performance venue or a participating venue in a Special Entertainment Precinct, or a combination.

19. Do you acknowledge that the 2-hours extended trading incentive is only available on nights where: (a) the venue hosts a live music performance or event, for 45 minutes or more, after 8pm, and (b) the venue’s development consent permits the extended trading.

20. Do you acknowledge that if the trading period incentive is used, it is a condition of the licence that the licensee keep a record of each live music performance or other arts and cultural event held or provided on the licensed premises.

Part 4- Participating venues in Special Entertainment Precincts

Please only fill in these questions if you are applying to be a participating venue in a Special Entertainment Precinct.


26. Is your venue located in a special entertainment precinct and do you hold, or intend to hold, live music performances or other arts and cultural performances?

27. Do you acknowledge that the extended trading incentive of 1-hour trading extension on all nights of the week is only available in weeks where: (a) live music performance or other arts and cultural event, for 45 minutes or more, after 8 pm, is held on the premises on at least 2 nights in any 7-day period, and (b) the venue’s development consent permits the extended trading hours

Part 5- Live performance venue

Please only fill in these questions if you are applying to be a live performance venue and are not a live music venue.

30. Is your venue a music hall, concert hall, dance hall, theatre or other venue that is licensed under an on-premises licence relating to a public entertainment venue?

31. Is your venue used primarily for live performances or other creative or cultural events?

32. Do you acknowledge that the 2-hours extended trading incentive is only available on nights where: (a) the venue hosts a live music performance or event, for 45 minutes or more, after 8pm, and (b) the venue’s development consent permits the extended trading.

33. Do you acknowledge that if the trading period incentive is used, it is a condition of the licence that the licensee keep a record of each live music performance or other arts and cultural event held or provided on the licensed premises.


Part 6- Declarations

  • I declare that I am 18 years or older and I am authorised to lodge this application.
  • I declare that the contents of this application including the attachments are true, correct and complete and that I have made all reasonable enquiries to obtain the information required to complete this application.
  • I undertake to notify as soon as possible Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) of any change to the information in this application if the information changes before the application is determined.
  • I declare that I am not suspended or disqualified from holding a liquor licence.
  • I acknowledge that under s. 36 of the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act 2007 and s. 307A of the Crimes Act 1900 it is an offence to provide false, misleading or incomplete information in this application.
  • I acknowledge that failure to provide all required information will result in the application being rejected.
  • I understand that specific details I have supplied in this application may be ‘personal information’ under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998. Personal information is any information or opinion that identifies an individual or enables someone to identify an individual. I acknowledge that L&GNSW is collecting information on behalf of the Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority to enable processing of the application.
  • I also understand that L&GNSW will use this information for its intended purpose only, store the information securely, and allow the applicant or licensee to access and update the information. When processing this application, L&GNSW may disclose information to other Government agencies.
  • I acknowledge that general information about the application could be published on an electronic noticeboard and information about the application, if granted, will be on a public register.
