Tourist accommodation trading hours risk loading exemption notification

What this form is for?

Use this form to apply for a tourist accommodation exemption. If your application is approved, it means you will not be required to pay the trading hours risk loading as part of your annual liquor licence fee.

Who can apply?

You can apply for the exemption if you satisfy all of the following:

  • hold a hotel or club licence that provides tourist accommodation;
  • regularly trade after midnight;
  • and you want to reduce your annual liquor licence fee.

Who can lodge this form?

  • a licensee
  • an approved manager
  • a contact person
  • an authorised legal representative.

To be eligible to apply you need to:

  • Provide accommodation in at least 20 rooms or self-contained suites (other than dormitory-style accommodation),
  • Provide beverages, meals and other associated services to residents and guests, and
  • Only operate bars after midnight primarily to sell or supply liquor to residents and their guests, or persons attending a function or conference by invitation-only (for example, for weddings or work conferences).

  2. You need to provide signed supporting documentation for the declaration page if you are completing this form on behalf of someone else.

More information

  • If you already have a tourist accommodation exemption you do not need to reapply.
  • You only need to reapply if your business model has changed and now focuses on selling alcohol to the general public after midnight on a regular basis.
  • Make sure you take your time filling out this application correctly. You will not be able to make changes once the application is submitted.
  • If information is missing, processing this form will be delayed and the application may be refused.
  • After submitting your application, you will be sent an email confirmation with a copy of your application. This will be sent to the email you provided on the form.

Key dates

  • Apply by 28 February 2025 to reduce your 2025 fee.
  • If you apply after 28 February your application will be assessed to reduce your fee for next year in 2026.
